Loloi's project, entitled Full Beauty, features nude photographs of women 420 pounds and larger. With a deep respect for his subjects and a challenging eye toward both pop culture and art history, Loloi shows that the history of the female nude is a dangerously limited one. While it is a rarity to show curvy bodies in advertising, entertainment or even contemporary art, obese women are virtually never acknowledged in these realms, despite the growing number of Americans who are overweight.

Re: Yossi Loloi Photographs Obese Women In The Nude, Challenges Traditional Notions Of Beauty

Has this man ever lived with a gluttonous woman, who let herself go to that extent?  (Disclaimer: I did NOT look at any of the pictures, because I'm a married man.)  Is he familiar with their eating habits?  What does he know of their sheer obsession with food?  Has he ever had to watch someone he loves stuffing herself till she can't move?  Or crawling away from the table on her hands and knees?  Does he know that they spend all of their time in one of 3 places: in bed, at the kitchen table, or on the toilet?  He wants to portray them as sexy.  Does he realize that their extreme obesity nullifies their sex drive?  Society at large (no pun intended)  is NEVER going to recognize  extreme female obesity as attractive.  I have seen with my own 2 eyes in the case of my 500 lb. wife the disgust she arouses whenever  we are out.

I didn't even know that they made caterpillar belts in black lace.  The conspiracy theorist in me is now convinced that the military is involved.  Somehow.

These women are posers, Mme.X., engaged in blatant self-deception.  What is missing is a back story.  One can surmise, first off, that they are not married: no husband would allow such lewd conduct.  Nor would a woman confident in her sexuality feel compelled to appear naked in front of strangers.  Only the lovelorn would engage in such exhibitionism.  (Again, I did not look at the photographs, but I have my own obese centerfold wannabe on which to base my assessment.)  It is as if they are pleading with men to look at them: see, aren’t my rolls sexy, isn’t my cellulite to die for?’  When the sad truth is, they have probably lost the ability to perform in bed because of their obesity.  It calls to mind your response to an earlier post of mine following one of Becky’s pathetic attempts at burlesque:

“The nudity, parading, pole-dancing part is very interesting. Notice how she can have it both ways ... she can act out her sexual fantasies (on some level, she still wants to be affirmed sexually, which is different from being fulfilled sexually) without worrying that they will actually go anywhere.”

It is no coincidence that her own “career” in striptease commenced the night that I angrily moved out of our bedroom, prompted by her halting admission to our marriage counselor that she couldn’t stop eating, weighed 417 lbs., and had lost interest in sex.  Her first performance was down the basement, where we’d gone so that her loud entreaties would not be heard by our sleeping children.  Someone needs to tell these women what I said to my wife that night, ‘Put your clothes on Rebecca’.
